Do I need a referral to see a Physiotherapist?
Since 1999, legislation has been in place across Canada eliminating the need for patients to obtain a doctor’s referral and allowing direct access to physiotherapy. This means that you can walk up and get physiotherapy without having to see your doctor. There is no need to wait any longer, contact us today so that we can return you to the activities you love doing!
How long do sessions last and will I only see a physiotherapist?
We are different from most physiotherapy providers, our initial assessment is a 60 minute session with the physiotherapist where they will go over your health history, complete a thorough assessment to pin point the source of the problem, educate you on your condition and provide you with a plan of action. Most follow-up sessions are 30 minutes in length, again with the physiotherapist only, we don’t have any assistants on our staff.
Can appointments be scheduled online?
We do have an online scheduling system that allows you to schedule your appointment with any of our caring Physiotherapists. To access this online scheduling system, click on the following link and fill out the form. We will send you a link about how you can create a profile and start booking your appointments online. Once an account is created, you can visit the dedicated client login page and use the login information you created to log in. From there, you can select your physiotherapist on the right and will see available time slots for the given week, you can move forward through the weeks for a date or time that is convenient to you. This service makes it easier to schedule appointments, especially after hours. Please note you will be unable to cancel appointments made, only schedule them. Should you need to cancel an appointment, just e-mail email@example.com and we can take care of that request.
Does Bellefleur Physiotherapy offer OHIP coverage?
Unfortunately, Bellefleur Physiotherapy isn’t registered to bill the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for Physiotherapy services. Please note that OHIP coverage is only available for those under 19 or over 65 and covers up to $300 per episode of care. This equates to approximately 4 or 5 sessions of treatment. As well, these sessions may include a combination of a Physiotherapist and Physiotherapist Assistants (PTA) or Kinesiologists working with you. All sessions at Bellefleur Physiotherapy are hands-on, one-on-one with a Physiotherapist, no PTA or Kinesiologist. This often permits more focused treatment on your specific condition.
Do you provide direct billing to my insurance company? Do you bill to automobile insurance or workers compensation?
We do provide direct billing under specific conditions. If you are covered under Medavie Blue Cross for RCMP, National Defence or Veterans Affairs, we will directly bill the insurer (Blue Cross). If you were involved in a motor vehicle accident (MVA), we will deal directly with your automobile insurer to get paid for the Physiotherapy services we provide to you. We also have access to an internal billing system that most private insurance plans use and can bill directly for your services, please note that not all insurance carriers or specific plans can be billed through this system. Please speak or e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) our helpful administrative staff to find out if we can bill for insurance company directly.
I’ve had Physiotherapy in the past and was often hooked up to electrical machines and had minimal hands-on treatment. Is this the type of treatment that you provide at Bellefleur Physiotherapy?
Though there is a time and place for machines (physical modalities) such as TENS, Ultrasound and muscle stimulation, our treatment approach is primarily hands-on. Manual therapy helps create more of a physical change to the injured structures and correcting poor movement patterns. On top of manual therapy techniques and rehabilitative exercises, we also provide significant education to our patients so that they understand their problem and recognize how the appropriate treatment plan will benefit their recovery. Other treatment options such as the Graston Technique & Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, Dry Needling have also been used very effectively in our practice. You will be impressed with our level of customer service and personalized approach to treatment.
