Shira Schwartz – Eager and Bilingual Physiotherapy Resident
Shira Schwartz received her Masters of Science degree in Physiotherapy from McGill University and previously completed a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Carleton University. While attending McGill University, Shira was able to practice her French, becoming confident with her bilingual caseload. During her Masters program, Shira was active in school volunteering her time by organising pelvic floor physiotherapy talks with the Woman’s Health Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, volunteering with the Special Olympics offering free assessments to the athletes, and volunteering for various events within the physiotherapy department in order to promote the profession.
Shira developed her love for physiotherapy as a young dancer who often had to visit physiotherapy services. She is now excited to share her passion for the profession with her patients, using an active and goal directed approach.
Shira is a Physiotherapy Resident working under the supervision of Dave Bellefleur, Vice-President of Bellefleur Physiotherapy. Shira is gaining skills in pelvic health, concussion recovery, and pediatric care. She believes in the importance of continuing education, and currently holds certifications in:
- Orthopedic Division Manual Therapy- Level 1
- Physiotherapy Approach to Pelvic Floor Dysfunction- Urinary Incontinence- Level 1
In her spare time, Shira enjoys weight training, teaching dance, rock climbing, and cooking a nice home cooked meal.
