Having trouble with your mobility?
Have you had a fall or are you at risk of falling?
A walker assessment will help to determine if you may benefit from having a walker. The Assistive Devices Program (ADP) is a program operated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to assist Ontario residents with long term physical disabilities. The ADP pays up to 75% of the equipment cost, as long as a mobility assessment is completed by a therapist who is registered as an “authorizer” by ADP. Four–wheeled walkers (or Rollator Walkers) are covered by this program.
The program allows individuals to:
- Obtain personalized assistive devices that are appropriate to their needs
- Assist with falls prevention
- Live independently and stay in their home longer
- Avoid the high costs of being in a residence.
If you are eligible for funding, after the walker assessment the authorizer will complete the necessary paperwork and provide you with a list of vendors who carry the specific device needed.
